Inclusive Wayfinding Toolkit
A national wayfinding system for active travel (walking, cycling and wheeling) which addresses the needs and aspirations of the ageing marketplace. The project will deliver a prototype Inclusive Wayfinding Toolkit, aimed at supporting local authorities with an inclusively designed wayfinding product that meets the needs of local users.

Integrated tech to support ageing with diabetes
The University of Sheffield is developing a new tech platform to help monitor diabetes-related markers, including physical activity and cognitive abilities. The platform is a shift away from current unsustainably high demands on diabetes care in the health service. The platform demonstrates a new model, facilitating remote patient monitoring by clinicians and carers and prioritisation of those most in need, targeting the use of NHS resources more efficiently.

Learning disability and dementia - supporting transition to a care home
People with a learning disability are at increased risk of dementia at a younger age. This project will co-develop a new resource for people with a learning disability and dementia to understand the personal outcomes that individuals want from their accommodation and support. The long-term vision is that care homes welcome older people with a learning disability and dementia into an environment where staff are trained and confident to provide appropriate support.

Leveraging digital phenotyping to support patients with vision loss
Digital phenotyping refers to using smartphone generated data to build a picture about an individual’s lifestyle and health state. This data can help highlight potential health risks. This project is looking at how digital phenotyping can be used to alert care providers and start clinical interventions for those at risk of glaucoma, potentially preventing permanent sight loss.

Ageing influences older adults’ ability to perform dynamic sports movements and these changes can place unique demands on footwear. Different characteristics for footwear may be needed for safe sporting activity.
