Innovate UK KTN’s Net Zero Places Innovation Network aims to make Net Zero in the UK a reality.
We do this by supporting local/regional authorities and agencies to connect, collaborate, inform, share experiences and lessons learned, adopt innovation and to level up across the UK.
This will be achieved by the Net Zero Places Innovation Network working with local authorities to identify the challenges, collaborating with procurement body organisations to make sure businesses and their solutions are procurement ready.
Supporting Local Authorities
Connecting you with the right people
Innovate UK KTN understands the innovation landscape. With our in depth and cross sector business networks, we are ideally placed to understand what solutions might be best suited for your area and connect you to the right solution providers. Working alongside procurement teams, we can ensure that you not only find the right solutions, but can adopt them and make progress towards your net zero goals.
Addressing specific challenges
The Net Zero Places Innovation Network can help local authority delivery teams to save time in finding the right solutions to meet Net Zero targets. Through the KTN-iX Innovation Exchange Programme, local authorities can reach out to innovative businesses to discover innovative solutions using cutting edge technologies to address specific challenges.
Sharing experiences and knowledge
We want to ensure that best practice and lessons learned are shared broadly. This will help you fast forward your team’s understanding of specific challenges and the process of procuring impactful solutions to address net zero challenges.
Supporting procurement bodies
Net Zero Places aims to connect key partners to make net zero a reality, and by collaborating with procurement organisations we are able to provide visibility of future demand and support the amendment or development of new frameworks in hand with local authority delivery teams. Engaging in our Innovation Network will help you build your knowledge base, and strengthen connections with businesses from across sectors – as well as reaching local authority delivery teams.
Supporting solution providers
If you are a business with a solution that supports meeting carbon net zero and want to engage with local authorities/agencies as potential customers, then our Innovation Network is the place to be. Through our KTN-iX Innovation Exchange Programme, we will launch specific challenges that our community of Local Authorities face and provide you with the opportunity to showcase your solution.
We can also support you with practical guidance to help you become public sector procurement ready.

Innovation Networks
Through our Innovation Network programme, we’ve united some of the best minds and greatest thinkers from across the UK in areas of innovation, development and new technologies.

Maritime & Ports Innovation Network
Following the success of the Decarbonising Ports & Harbours Innovation Network held from 2020 to 2022, we have decided to extend the programme for an additional year. We recognise that since the inception of our original programme in 2019, a lot has happened, we left the EU, we entered a pandemic and a financial crisis (not just because we left the EU) and we reaffirmed our commitment to decarbonising our industries including maritime.
