UK-Kenya Health Global Innovation Network

This Global Innovation Network shatters knowledge silos and ignites collaborative action. We bridge the gap between cutting-edge UK expertise and Kenyan ingenuity, co-creating accessible, affordable solutions to conquer Kenya's cancer challenges.

Beyond borders, beyond limitations

Driven by Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa with a shared commitment to tackling the immense burden of cancer in Kenya, this Global Innovation Network brings together stakeholders from the UK and Kenya to innovate, problem-solve, and accelerate the development and adoption of accessible and affordable cancer solutions.

Through knowledge sharing and coordinated efforts, we aim to significantly improve early detection rates, enhance cancer care across the board, and ultimately alleviate the impact of this disease on individuals and communities. Together, we’re fuelling a revolution in early cancer detection and diagnosis.

Objectives

Together, we can rewrite the story of cancer in Kenya by:

  • Accessible healthcare technology: Contributing to cutting-edge developments in early cancer detection, directly impacting lives in Kenya. This can be achieved by championing accessible, cost-effective technologies for early diagnosis – from mobile apps to AI-powered tools.
  • Specialist health community: Collaborating with a diverse network of experts, sharing knowledge and resources for greater reach. We must adopt collaborative platforms to share expertise between the UK and Kenyan healthcare professionals as well as empower local solutions. This is important as by bringing researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and patients together, we can co-create accessible healthcare pathways.
  • Long-term health solutions: Helping to build a sustainable healthcare system equipped to tackle cancer early and effectively.

Focus Areas

Join this pioneering Global Innovation Network which is empowering accessible and affordable early diagnosis of three prevalent cancers including breast, prostate, and cervical cancer. Early detection saves lives. Yet, in Kenya, cost and awareness barriers often delay diagnosis, impacting survival rates. This network tackles these head-on, harnessing technology and collaboration to revolutionise cancer care. We will focus on the following important areas including:
Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is a common and serious disease that mainly occurs in the prostate gland. This cancer is more common in older men, especially those aged over 50.

Cervical Cancer

Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is a major health concern related to persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Detecting it early are crucial to lessening its impact.

Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in Kenya and globally. Raising awareness is pivotal for early detection and improved outcomes.
