Global Expert Missions
The Global Expert Missions (GEM) programme aims to create global growth opportunities for UK innovation through strategically aligned partnerships with the right businesses in the right countries.
Global Expert Missions drive the UK’s vision as a global hub for UK innovation.
The GEM programme funded by Innovate UK is designed to build international collaborations with governments, societies, enterprises, institutions, and people from every corner of the globe. With global challenges requiring international perspectives, the programme aims to support the UK government’s ambition to be the international partner of choice and a global hub for innovation by 2035.
Working closely with wider UK government stakeholders, the programme plays a crucial role in supporting Innovate UK’s global opportunities outlined in the plan for action to help build the future economy for UK business innovation.
The objectives of the GEM are:

The mission identifies key strategic partners and provides expert and objective insights to inform and enhance the UK’s innovation partnership with global economies.

Providing unique market insights and drivers for UK businesses and strategic actions plans to support Government initiatives and to identify new opportunities.

Promoting the best of British technology, research, innovation and expertise and to be the trusted partner of choice for innovation partnerships.

Innovate UK Business Connect delivers dissemination events for each Global Expert Mission to highlight key findings and provide a holistic and wide viewpoint of the technological capabilities within these sectors and countries.
