Matthew Bray

My focus is on the implementation of the UK-South Africa Smart Energy Global Innovation Network, and growth of our Open Innovation and other sector-level interventions – supporting innovators and innovative technologies through an ecosystem-convening approach and mobilisation of key resources with our partners.

I have worked as an innovator myself, leading engineering teams and raising millions of dollars to deploy into technology development for the wind energy industry. My experience also includes working in corporate finance and asset management for BASF and Goldman Sachs, while living on 4 different continents across my career.

I am passionate about helping to connect innovators to opportunities beyond their current horizons and collaborating to create more sustainable innovation systems in South Africa and beyond.
