Strategic objectives of the Mission

  • Help determine how Innovate UK can best support UK businesses more effectively and efficiently when considering health innovation partnerships with Taiwan. Our assessment would include where best to focus efforts on technology and sector areas, locations, and the type of programmes needed to maximise opportunities between Taiwan and the UK.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the research and innovation landscape on health technology and build relationships with key individuals and organisations.
  • Identify synergies and relative strengths and weaknesses across the health innovation sector in Taiwan.
  • To understand the healthcare market in Taiwan and develop long-term engagement strategies with key stakeholders to support business collaboration for new products and services.

Future of Health Technology

The Global Expert Mission (GEM) will delve into various aspects critical to the healthcare industry in Taiwan. This includes understanding the procurement of new innovations within the Taiwanese healthcare system, the significance of value propositions for commercial success, and the potential for collaboration with Taiwanese companies to facilitate access to the broader Asia-Pacific market.

Additionally, the mission will focus on assessing potential synergies with UK companies in areas such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology, and how collaborative activities can be optimised. Furthermore, it will explore Taiwan’s advanced healthcare data systems and the opportunities for UK companies to engage in collaborations related to healthcare data access, safety, and security. The GEM will also address regulatory requirements, healthcare challenges, and opportunities for collaboration to develop successful products and services that can address common healthcare challenges in both Taiwan and the UK, as well as the rest of the world.

Specific areas of exploration will include the healthcare ecosystem, health data management, clinical trial landscape, and identifying opportunities for collaboration to address common healthcare challenges.
