About D-PRIV for Safer Data

60% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) use a data-driven approach to boost their processes, drive strategies, and improve their financial performance.

Keeping confidential information should be a top priority for these businesses, and it’s more critical than ever that companies make sure that anonymised data meets GDPR requirements. But data anonymisation services can be expensive, require a high level of skills and be difficult to deploy, making them inaccessible to many.

D-PRIV looks to address these challenges through its data anonymisation system which protects data and avoids the risk of compromising confidential information. It allows various sites to communicate with the central controller to help manage their privacy model without sharing any sensitive information.

Working in the digital health sector was the inspiration behind this innovation, when project lead Jie Li developed patient monitoring software and found issues with data anonymisation. The team looked at existing systems and products, and found that most were costly, difficult to deploy and required a high level of skill.

The team have developed several privacy models to deal with different types of data including healthcare and digital medical imagery, with plans to release the first alpha testing version in early 2023. They are looking for investment and support in other areas such as marketing, but also want members of the digital healthcare community to use the system and provide feedback.
