Nature Inspired Solutions

In the past biomimicry or biomimetics started from simple imitation of natural organisms. Over time, it has evolved through integration and combination with modern science and engineering to help us discover new materials, applications, and alternative ways of production.

Like all Innovation Networks (formerly SIG’s) run by KTN, the aim is to convene people who wouldn’t normally meet; to learn, connect and explore opportunities. This Innovation Network focusses on the application of Nature Inspired Solutions across transport, infrastructure and energy. Through organising networking events, showcases and raising awareness by sharing best practice and success stories, we are building a cross-sector community and driving positive change. We work across academia and industry to ensure that ideas are translated into real-world applications, thus accelerating route to market.

We are currently in the process of building a landscape map and a commercial opportunity report to help accelerate growth and market uptake in the relevant sectors. If you would like to contribute or feature on this map, get in touch with Emma McKenna.
