Remote patient monitoring using 3D technology and AI
Growing up in Edinburgh, Divia Bhatnagar always had a love for technology and innovation. That’s why, after completing a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, she moved to London, joining and scaling start-ups and sparking her passion for entrepreneurship.
Today, in her role as CTO at Medical Intelligence Group, Divia focuses on revolutionising the healthcare industry. Currently developing an advanced remote patient monitoring tool that will improve outcomes for people with diabetic foot ulcers, the innovative system uses 3D technology to render a lifelike imitation of the foot for clinicians to assess remotely.
“Unfortunately, many patients struggle to access timely care, often due to nerve impairment or strained resources in our health systemt,” explains Divia. “Not only will this technology help patients access the care they need when they need it but will, ultimately, reduce the high number of lives – and limbs – lost to diabetic foot ulcers. Particularly in BAME communities.”
Divia believes the lack of women role models in positions of power, along with a pervasive unconscious bias about technical credibility, make it difficult for women to find their way in the tech sector. She looks forward to joining the ranks of the Women in Innovation Programme as a role model, inspiring others to push themselves outside of their comfort zones and “embrace the uncomfortable”.
