Facilitating business and entrepreneurial opportunity in the North East and beyond
Charlotte Windebank’s learning and development agency FIRST offers inclusive accredited courses, workshops and events to empower learners with the skills, confidence, self-belief and motivation they need to succeed.
FIRST has grown from Charlotte’s own difficult experiences of starting out in the professional world. She believes that, like her, many people are not sufficiently equipped to find opportunities and succeed in the world of work after education.
For Charlotte, making connections within the community is the key to getting on. FIRST offers ‘safe’ learning spaces where people can make these connections, share and grow their ambitions.
Her ultimate ambition is to create lasting change in the business ecosystem of the North East and beyond: “By communicating the true value of our work and creating social return, enterprise skills and entrepreneurial experiences will become more of a training priority within education and for local governments dealing with high unemployment, low skill attainment and low startup business rates.”
Charlotte intends to use the Innovate UK Women in Innovation award as an opportunity to turn FIRST into “a true disruptor within the Further Education market.”
