Creating biodegradable fruit and veg bags for a more sustainable future
Jamil Quarless is a climate advocate who has become increasingly interested in solving social injustices as he gets older.
Based in Northern Ireland, Jamil tapped into his passion for design to start Not A Knot. The business creates reusable and biodegradable netted bags for fruit and vegetables, cutting down on both plastic and agricultural waste.
The idea is in very early stages of development, but Jamil hopes that the Young Innovators programme will support his progress over the next 12 months.
“The overall manner in which the Young Innovators programme is run encourages you to think and share your ideas. My main reason for applying was to see if my idea had any form of validity and if not, why? Being one of the Award winners definitely helped validate my confidence in both myself and my ability to produce good ideas,” Jamil says.
