The skincare brand that celebrates traditional Chinese medicine
Driven by her love of traditional Chinese medicine, Charlotte Yau founded skincare brand Muihood in October 2021. She wanted to celebrate her Chinese heritage, but explains that she also wanted to combat the wave of anti-Asian hate over the last two years.
Muihood focuses on telling the stories behind traditional Chinese medicine and making it more accessible to those new to that aspect of Chinese culture. She launched her hero product a year ago: a cleansing balm made with traditional Chinese antioxidants that melts away makeup.
Charlotte’s ambition is to grow Muihood into an international brand with brick-and-mortar stores. She hopes the mentoring on the Young Innovators programme will help her take the next steps.
“It can be quite lonely starting a business on your own. The mentorship from the Young Innovators programme will have a massive impact on growing Muihood. It will enable me to close any skills gaps, gain confidence and grow Muihood faster than I would have been able to do before,” she says.
