Africa-registered Partner: Victory Farms Ltd – Steve Moran

Victory Farms (VF), a Kenyan tilapia farm, is considering using underutilised ‘ochonga’, small shrimps that are a by-product of Lake Victoria’s freshwater fishery, as an aquafeed ingredient. Yet, aquaculture generally has been criticised for diverting food resources from nutritionally-vulnerable communities. In this project, we aim to evaluate the use of this underutilised stock for aquafeed while investigating its value as direct human food.
