Paul Spenley

My role as a Knowledge Transfer Adviser (KTP) is to help organisations achieve transformational improvement by enabling the development of Innovation projects from initial concept to implementation providing support every step of the way. My motivation is based on the knowledge that innovation is the vehicle for delivering the vision of success by providing a practical and affordable pathway.

I am a Chartered Engineer with a first degree in Electronics from Salford University and a Masters in Technology Leadership from Plymouth University. My experience as an Innovation Leader covers product, process and people innovation giving me first hand knowledge of how to implement innovation projects and the experience to help.

As chief Engineer for a UK microwave instrumentation company leading a team which launched 4 new products in 3 years transforming the reputation and financial position of the company. As Automation Manager of a UK computer company developing and implementing a new CIM system which transformed delivery times and quality transforming the reputation of the company and which was recognised with a best Factory award. As Total Quality Manager for the manufacturing operations of the same organisation achieving up-skilling and culture change of 3000 people who were recognised by EFQM for best quality organisation in Europe. My practical experience led to becoming Director of Pera International which we built into a £2 million consultancy business within 3 years. After this experience with larger clients I felt strongly that smaller organisations could benefit from the same tools and techniques and worked with the University of Gloucestershire Growth Hub for over 7 years including on the development of KTP applications.
