Matthew Wasley
Knowledge Transfer Manager - Enabling Technologies
I am lead on Made Smarter Innovation Alley at Digital Manufacturing Week, providing support to companies, universities and other organisations across industrial technologies. I connect them with the people, organisations, expertise that will help fast track their innovative projects, especially across different sectors.
I work with companies of all sizes, from start-ups to multinationals, with academia, Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) as well as with local and national government stakeholders. I also run the Investor Showcase at Made Smarter Innovation Alley and am instrumental in building partnerships and developing collaborations between companies on Innovation Alley.
I began my career in defence science with the Defence Research Agency (now QinetiQ), moving from applied research to project management and then business development. I then worked for a time at the Defence Diversification Agency, before moving to a knowledge transfer role at the University of Birmingham.
Around 10 years ago, I moved to Scotland and the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA), where I was responsible for SUPA’s knowledge exchange in a broad sense, including public outreach as well as more traditional commercial activity.
