Christopher Pilgrim
Knowledge Transfer Manager ‑ Materials

I am the technical lead at Innovate UK KTN for the Transforming Foundation Industries Challenge. I work on the Aluminium programme of Circular Economy Innovation Network among other projects that focus on enabling and accelerating energy and resource efficiency in established materials.
My background is in materials and mechanical engineering. I completed an engineering doctorate with an Imperial College spin-out company looking into smart coatings to measure temperatures in extreme environments, for example gas turbines. After completing the doctorate, I worked in technical management roles to drive the development of the technology for commercial applications.
Before starting at KTN, I worked for an aerospace manufacturer overseeing the metallurgical lab and then with responsibility for product quality for the site.
