Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (RCTCBC) are launching a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI – WBRID) competition to identify innovative solutions to address NetZero and decarbonise council assets.

The challenge is to develop a net zero multi-vector heat, storage and electricity micro-grid solution which will serve as part of a wider energy mix in an initial proposed ‘zone’ of a group of designated buildings. It will need to facilitate renewable energy, storage and electricity for offices, schools and businesses and eventually low carbon transport.

The Authority is seeking Specialist Tenderers, with the necessary skill set, experience, competence and capacity to submit their Innovative Solutions and Proposals to develop a Feasibility Study during Phase 1 of the project and potentially move into Phase 2 (subject to a review and financial viability of between £500K – £1M).

The Authority intends to select up to a maximum of Four (4) of the highest scoring submissions received, as evaluated by a Specialist Evaluation Panel, and each will be awarded a contract with a maximum value of £25,000 (excluding VAT) and given a fixed period of time of 7 weeks to develop their delivery solutions.
