Do you have an innovative idea for improving water security in South Africa?
Global Alliance Africa, delivered by Innovate UK in partnership with the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) are investing up to £500,000 for UK participants and ZAR 5 million for South Africa participants in innovation projects towards improvement of water security in South Africa and/or the UK.
A combined funding of £500 000 and ZAR 5 million will be contributed by Innovate UK KTN and TIA, to allow UK and SA businesses the opportunity to collaborate internationally and demonstrate innovative viability to address challenges within the water sector.
The UK-SA Water Innovation Lead Customer Programme fund will launch 13 November 2023 as part of the Global Innovation Network intervention of the Global Alliance Africa project. The aim of this competition is to accelerate innovations needed to create new or improved water access technologies for the sector through UK-South African partnerships.
Innovate UK’s Global Alliance Africa project will manage the fund, divided into two streams based on Technology Readiness Levels (TRL).
- South African organisations with projects at TRL 4 to 6 can receive grants up to ZAR 500,000, and their UK partners up to GBP 25,000.
- For projects at TRL 6 to 8, South African entities can get up to ZAR 1 million, with UK partners eligible for up to GBP 100,000.
Additionally, Global Alliance Africa and TIA will offer technical support and assist in finding and connecting South African and UK partners.
