UK HealthTech & MediWales Innovation Awards 2018

The sixth edition of UK HealthTech will take place on December 4th at the Park Plaza Hotel in Cardiff.

UK HealthTech plays host to several key speakers to discuss the strategic issues and policy developments facing the life science and health technology sector. There will be opportunities for networking, meeting potential collaborators and building business development opportunities. Sessions shall focus on a variety of topics, ranging from funding and finance, to updates on regulatory developments. There will also be sessions on the LifeScience Academy, skills agenda and careers fayre, as well as clinical innovation, showcases from universities to examine the future of the sector, and NHS market access and innovation adoption. Additionally, the new LifeScience Industry online and print magazine will be launched.

Over 300 delegates will come together to understand critical strategic trends that will impact on their businesses. There will be the opportunity to engage with industry, UK regulatory, the clinical community, procurement and funding bodies, as well as the potential to meet collaborative partners and build business development opportunities. Latest industry insights will be showcased through presentations from industry experts and government officials, with the future of business, health and academic communities being debated. Presentations will also demonstrate the latest advances in R&D technologies.

Delegates will be able to visit the exhibition to meet leading organisations and key figures from academia and the clinical community. These will include experts in medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, across the spectrum of research, manufacturing and healthcare delivery. Currently a draft agenda has been released, with further details to be announced in due course. Presentations from industry experts and government officials will offer the latest industry insights and the conference sets the agenda for debate on the future of our business, health and academic opportunities. Confirmed speakers include Dr. Dean Burnett (neuroscientist, comedian and Guardian science blogger), David Sheppard (Deputy Head, Life Sciences, Department for International Trade), Cynthia Bullock (Senior Innovation Lead for Enabling Programmes at Innovate UK), Gwyn Tudor (CEO of MediWales), and Peter Finegold (Head of Education, Institution of Mechanical Engineers).

In the evening of the same day the MediWales Innovation Awards 2018 will also be taking place, which shall be the thirteenth edition of the annual awards. More than 300 VIPs and guests will be present for the gala evening to celebrate the achievements of the NHS, life science and health technology communities. The evening will have ten awards being announced across industry and NHS categories, identifying outstanding achievements in the life science sector in Wales.
