KTN and CPNI launch Trusted Research for Industry Series

KTN and CPNI are preparing for the launch of the Trusted Research for Industry Webinar Series, where they will discuss the impact of security risks and what it means for industry when embarking on research projects.

Trusted Research is a campaign that raises the awareness of the security risks to research collaborations, some of which may have links to nations whose democratic and ethical values are different from our own.

The guidance has been developed in consultation with both academia and industry, and is designed to support UK’s world-leading research and innovation sector move forward with confidence and get the most out of international collaboration, whilst protecting intellectual property (IP), sensitive research and personal information.

In order to support this activity, KTN, the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) will be delivering of a series of webinars that will assist industry in forming long-term, trusted, and secure relationships with academia, whilst mitigating against potential security risks to valuable research when collaborating with organisations and research partners.

The registrations for the first round of supporting webinars are now open:

  • Monday 17 May 2021 – Focus on the general audience, all sectors welcome
  • Thursday 20 May 2021 – Focus on Health & Life Sciences, Chemistry and Industrial Biotechnology Sectors
  • Monday 24 May 2021 – Focus on Emerging and Enabling (Electronics Sensors and Photonics, ICT), Space, Defence and Security, Industrial Mathematics, Robotics & AI Sectors.

The webinars will feature presentations from industry leaders, including:
Professor Dame Ottoline Leyser – UKRI Chief Executive
Professor Andy Wright – Director of Strategic Technology at BAE Systems
Dr Mike Short CBE – Chief Scientific Advisor at the Department for International Trade
and many more.

We encourage academics and industry stakeholders planning on working in collaboration with academia to engage with the panellists during dedicated Q&A sessions.
