Posted on: 25/01/2021

Many of the companies due to exhibit at the Rail Innovation Exhibition 2021, 9-12 February have been announced.

The Rail Innovation Exhibition 2021 is a virtual a showcase of the best in rail innovation brought to you by Innovate UK, KTN, the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Railway Industry Association (RIA), in partnership with UKRRIN and Network Rail. It promises to bring together a fantastic line-up to showcase some of the most exciting innovations and projects the rail sector has to offer.

Delegates will be able to see innovations around Covid-19, batteries for trains, decarbonisation, sustainability, customer experience and accessibility.

Exhibits will include:

  • BlockDox’s PassengerCountTM, an innovative analytics platform that combines cutting edge sensors with data science to produce real time and predictive insights about passenger boarding/alighting; bus and train carriage occupancy and station/platform footfall as well as passenger density.
  • WHISwall from 4Silence, a totally new method for reducing railway noise that directs noise upwards, reducing the height of noise barriers, reducing cost and maintaining visibility.
  • Direct Access’ RightHear wayfinding sensor and app solution that assists a user with navigation through a station safely and independently, removing the need to locate staff in a busy station and tackling the limitations of tactile signage during Covid-19.
  • Resi-Glaze from Far-UK Ltd, a resilient glazing for safer passenger vehicle operation.
  • Feonic Vibration’s patented sensors that harvest power from machine vibrations and report conditional change helping to predict unexpected failure, avoiding cost, delay and sometimes fatalities.
  • Furrer+Frey GB’s rapid battery charging solutions that allow rail vehicles to be charged in normal dwell times, removing range issues from battery technology and lowering the weight and space taken up by batteries.
  • Cleartrak, a smart toilet waste processing system that is easily integrated into new trains or retrofitted onto existing fleets, freeing up trains to spend more time in passenger service, increasing network capacity, whilst maximising revenue and benefitting the environment.
  • Sheffield Hallam University’s illuminated and heated (‘illumin-heated”) concrete slabs for railway platform copers which enable automated de-icing during winter periods and dynamic wayfinding for passengers.

As well as seeing the latest innovations, delegates will be able to drop into virtual booths to chat to company representatives and book 1-2-1 meeting slots.  To see who’s exhibiting, visit the dedicated event site here.
