KTN and Innovate UK to host briefing webinar for NEW H2020 Cross-Cutting Calls in Next-Generation Batteries

Posted on: 22/01/2019

A briefing webinar is taking place on 6 February 2019 at 1pm to give an overview of two new H2020 BATTERY-RELATED Calls.

More efficient batteries could result in cleaner energy. A cross-cutting Call: Building a Low-Carbon, Climate Resilient Future: Next-Generation Batteries opens on 24th January 2019, and brings together research and innovation efforts on the next generations of batteries from various parts of Horizon 2020.

The competitiveness of new advanced energy storage systems or sustainable battery powered vehicles is strongly dependent on the performance and cost of the battery and battery cells and the materials used for the production of the cells. This is especially valid for the fast growing market of electrified vehicles. The selected topics proposed in this Call cover a relevant spectrum of activities in the field of electric batteries technology: short term research for advanced Li-ion electrochemistry and production processes, short to medium term research for solid-state electrochemistry, modelling tools, new materials for stationary electric batteries, hybridisation of battery systems, next generation batteries for stationary energy storage, next generation and validation of battery packs and battery management systems, networking of pilot lines and skills development and training.

In 2019, €114 million* will be available to fund projects in seven topics of the Call. The closing date for applications will be 25th April 2019. For more information on this Call, read the Work Programme here.

In addition to this, a second Call relating to future battery technologies is to be published soon.

KTN and the National Contact Points for H2020 will host an online webinar on the 6th February 2019 at 1pm (UK time), to brief potential applicants, and give an overview of the Calls, topics and support that will be available to UK organisations. There will also be information on UK participation in H2020 post March 2019.
