Innovate UK have 2 new competitions in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for Extreme & Challenging Environments.

Innovate UK have 2 new competitions in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for Extreme & Challenging Environments:

• R&D for RAI in Extreme & Challenging Environments
• RAI Extreme & Challenging Environments Demonstrator competition – Phase 1

The aim of these competitions is to speed up the development of RAI technologies which would be used across the off-shore energy, nuclear energy, space and deep mining applications and other extreme and challenging environments. The resulting developments should demonstrate a potential step change in RAI technologies and system capabilities. As the two competitions have different focus, projects could address either specific disciplines or the combination of complementary ones, like robotics, machine vision, manipulation, AI and situational awareness, materials, telecommunications, sensors, radiation-tolerant electronics, power systems, navigation, localisation, mapping, planning, miniaturisation and systems engineering etc.

To support applicants, KTN will be hosting  briefing and consortium building events in London, 21st June, and Birmingham, 27th June. Applicants are strongly advised to attend. For those unable to attend there will also be a webcast on the 21st June.

The events will provide details of scope, and the application process as well as offering a session to pitch your ideas and capabilities to those attending. If you are keen to do a short pitch that relates to your idea for this competition, please select this option on the registration form and you will be sent further details closer to the event. Pitch presentations will be made available to view online as soon as they are submitted:

We are also offering the opportunity to book one-to-one meetings, both with other delegates at the event, and also with KTN and Innovate UK staff.
