Innovation to compete in the global livestock industry

The 2018 BSAS conference will explore how the livestock industry can meet the increasing challenges of sustainable food production.

The 2018 British Society for Animal Science (BSAS) conference will look at the challenges facing the livestock industry and ask “How can the livestock sector best use technology, research and innovation to meet the increasing global challenge of sustainable¬†food production?”

This¬†year’s event will welcome over 500 scientists, vets, policy-makers and farmers from across the world to discuss how innovation will play an essential role in ensuring we can compete in the global livestock industry.

Abstract submissions are now invited for any aspect of animal science, with a deadline of 31 October 2017.

The programme will include topics on:

  • Cutting-edge technology for feed management
  • Innovation for sustainable livestock systems
  • Grazed and conserved forages for dairy, beef and sheep
  • Feed efficiency and trait definition
  • Global dairy systems and milk quality
  • Improving labour efficiency
  • Animal breeding and genetics
  • Nutrition, health and welfare
  • Bridging the gap between academia and the equine industry
  • Economic challenges of BREXIT, CAP reform, globalization and climate change
  • PLUS special Hammond Lecture: Precision agriculture meets the omics revolution
