Google is making the full data set available from chipsets in Android mobile devices to apps developers. This is a game changer as it enables substantial performance improvements, potentially leading to centimetric positioning from mobile devices. This will interest the transport sector, location based services apps developers, the construction industry and the precision farming community.

KTN in collaboration with the Royal Institute of Navigation is holding an event on this in London on Monday 10th July.

Our keynote is Frank van Diggelen from Google and we will have presentations from Ordnance Survey, the Nottingham Geospatial Institute, UCL, the construction industry (TBC), Spirent (GPS simulator manufacturer), Airbus on the GSA raw data task force, and Innovate UK. The Innovate UK speaker will discuss the European Space Agency NAVISP funding, which can support development work to exploit this data.

The purpose of the event is to discuss the opportunities, areas for further work and potential funding sources with developers and users, and to facilitate networking amongst participants.
