Design and collaboration play key role in KTP Best of the Best Awards as judging and speaker line-up takes shape

Clive Grinyer confirmed as Awards speaker and judge

Recognised and celebrated as a “passionate advocate of the transformational power of design”, Clive Grinyer will bring a designer’s eye to the judging panel for this year’s KTP Best of the Best Awards.

Design has been at the core of Grinyer’s thinking, not just in his early career as a product designer, co-founding the design firm, Tangerine, alongside Jonathan Ive. Over the course of his time in various design-related roles at Samsung, Orange, Cisco and later Barclays, Grinyer was part of evolving the role of design, becoming more about the customer experience, not just the design of the product itself.

Having led “innovation teams designing human centred solutions for the modern world” Grinyer is firmly of the belief that “through discovering real human need and context, collaborating across organisations and co-creating with people, we can together create solutions that deliver impact and transformation”.

With his unique perspective on the value of both design and collaboration, Grinyer promises to add a distinctive voice to the KTP Best of the Best Awards where he will give one of the keynote talks as well as judging the Business Impact Award.

“I am delighted to talk about design, innovation and collaboration to an audience whose work showcases to the world what ‚Äòthe best‚Äô looks like.”

Collaboration is at the heart of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme, which links forward-thinking businesses with the UK’s world class academics to bring about transformative change, realising innovation projects and embedding new knowledge.

This year’s KTP Best of the Best Awards celebrate outstanding achievement across five categories:

  • Best KTP Partnership
  • Engineering Excellence
  • Innovator of the Future
  • Business Impact
  • Best Knowledge Base Team

All categories have been hotly contested, and a shortlist will be drawn up in early April. Winners will be announced at a special ceremony at the Royal Society of Chemistry in London on 2nd May 2019.

KTP aims to help businesses improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills held within the UK knowledge base. The KTP Best of the Best Awards celebrate the outstanding individuals, partnerships, skills and outcomes that have delivered above and beyond expectations.

The Knowledge Transfer Network delivers the KTP programme for Innovate UK, funded by UK Research and Innovation as part of the government’s Industrial Strategy.

Further information about KTPs is here, and applications for funding are open all year round.
