Contribute to "next generation digital business services" as part of the multi-million pound Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund

High Productivity workshops are being held in September in London and Manchester.

Innovate UK in collaboration with BEIS, the Research Councils and the KTN, are seeking industry thought leaders, innovators and academics to participate in a workshop on the 4th and 7th September.  This is to seek your input to “Next generation digital business services” as part of the new multi-million pound Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).

The high-value data-driven service sector is critical to driving the UK’s growth, competitiveness, productivity and export earnings. We are global leaders in business services, advertising, finance, insurance, retail, design, law and others, and the performance of these sectors gives a disproportionate impact on the UK economy.

These sectors face significant challenges on an international stage from new competitors. In order to maintain and extend its leading position, the UK needs to build the next generation of highly tailored services, building on the opportunities that increasing levels of data and new digital (and disruptive) technologies (such as AI, IoT and Distributed Ledger Technology) present. This will help businesses to understand and predict the needs of their clients and offer higher value service.

To achieve this, high-value added service industries will need to progress research, development and innovation; working with, for example, digital technology supply companies, data analysts, cyber security organisations, behavioural scientists and designers to help create new solutions and ensure the take up and deployment of better products and services.

These workshops form a vital part of the process to finalise a proposal on which funding decisions will be made in early autumn, alongside others dealing with challenges across the economy. Although funding is not guaranteed for the proposal, your input will help provide evidence to make the case.

We are seeking to engage with stakeholders to:

•   Review, comment and validate the scope of the challenge we are proposing

•   Understand the market opportunity

•   Ensure the programme time scales are reasonable

•   Advise on the scale of investment that might be needed

•   Understand businesses’ appetite to participate and co-fund.

Expression of interest: If you are interested in attending this workshop please register to indicate your interest.
