Are you involved in Data Sharing, Information Fusion, AI or Predictive Maintenance?
If so, we’d like you to share your knowledge and sector best practice through a survey to help the offshore and renewables industry
We need your help and expertise to find solutions to some of the offshore renewable energy industry’s main technology challenges by sharing your insights and exemplars of best practice from other sectors.
The responses to these surveys may lead to a series of round-tables to study some areas in more depth – if so, we would welcome your input at those and would invite you to attend.
KTN is supporting the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult by reaching out to practitioners and end-users in these sectors through a short survey.  We’re asking for your input to help the ORE Catapult better understand how challenges have been solved in other industries and where there is potential for cross-over and adopting best practice.
There are two surveys and it would be immensely helpful for this process if you were to take five minutes and complete the one relevant to the sector you operate in.  KTN and the ORE Catapult are looking for input from people involved in:
·      Data Sharing and Information Fusion technologies
·      AI and Predictive Maintenance technologies
The offshore wind industry is undergoing a period of rapid growth and change.  Larger turbines, more efficient generators, improving O&M strategies and increases in market volume are all helping to drive down costs.  Installed capacity is expected to double by 2020 and continue to grow at a rate of 20% current capacity year on year through 2030.
Offshore renewable assets are a source of big data with information streaming off turbines, vessels, people, grid, etc.  The industry is already struggling with management, analytics and security of the data generated and the problem is only set to get worse should the growth forecasts be realised.
There is much to be gained by adopting solutions developed in other sectors and industries that have already solved such challenges in data architecture, storage, processing, security and analytics.
The surveys can be accessed here:

·      AI and Predictive Maintenance technologies
We may follow up this survey with an invitation to discuss your answers at greater depth with the Offshore Renewables Industry through roundtable workshops and a report will be compiled for broader distribution across the Offshore Renewable Industry.
