Additional funding opportunities in Europe by applying for “Cascading Grants"

Find out about the Horizon 2020 “Cascading Grants” funding opportunities available.

Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) – also known as Cascading Grants or Part K Grants – can be found when searching the activities of a wide range of already running Horizon 2020 funded projects.

But what does this mean in practice?

In simplified terms, they describe an opportunity offered in many Horizon 2020 topics for consortia that want to reach out and involve new actors in their research and innovation process: the consortia launch open calls for third parties; third parties apply, receive funding and other forms of support, and engage with a European network. This process contributes to knowledge transfer and exploitation, take-up of technologies, and building and scaling ecosystems in these areas. One of the key aims is to engage competence centres and SMEs, build academy-industry collaborations, and bring user requirements to the core.

Cascading grants are increasingly used to achieve these objectives across many projects funded in H2020, and beyond.  However, it is often difficult to identify these opportunities, but there is one location to find a list of open, and closed calls.  Each call area must be investigated separately to determine if your organisation would be eligible.  Although calls may be closed, the projects using “Cascading Grants” may be running a series of calls, so they may appear closed temporarily.

Each call will have its own set of criteria for applications, and this will include such things as size of award, regional and sector limitations etc. so you need to look at each one to see if the opportunity is suitable for your own aims and aspirations.

Links to the open and closed calls can be found here.
