5G in freight/logistics event 2 November, Milton Keynes
Help inform the government’s thinking around and potential approach to the roll out of 5G for the freight and logistics sector.
KTN, alongside the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and UK5G, is running a workshop at the Transport Systems Catapult for the freight and logistics sector to help inform the government’s thinking around and potential approach to the roll out of 5G.
5G is the next generation of mobile connectivity and it is coming soon.  It will start to become the digital infrastructure over which all companies ultimately will do business.  The government is keen to identify potential challenges specifically for the freight and logistics sector which may be addressed by the application of 5G based technologies.
5G promises to bring huge benefits due to its ability to handle data.  Completely different to 3G and 4G, 5G will bring a revolution in speed, bandwidth and connectivity and will offer enhanced security to open the door for new types of connected products and services.  It has the potential to transform organisations large and small.
As part of the DCMS 5G Testbeds and Trials programme, the workshop will help inform the government to provide support to stimulate 5G research and development in the freight and logistics sector (currently subject to final, ministerial approval).
You should attend if you are:
- A UK-based freight/logistics business interested in research and development
- A telecoms business seeking potential partners in these sectors
We need your input and participation to help fashion the future of your sectors and contribute to informing government about how it might support a digital revolution in freight and logistics.
