Global Research and Innovation in Plastics Sustainability
GRIPS was founded in 2020 in the height of the global pandemic when a lot of countries were experiencing lockdowns and was held virtually. Over 1000 attendees joined us for GRIPS 2023 in Coventry which was a fantastic event packed with thought leadership and educational talks across a range of industry sectors that use plastics and polymers.
The Global Research & Innovation in Plastics Sustainability (GRIPS) is organised by the UK Circular Plastics Network (UKCPN) & Innovate UK KTN.
Global Research and Innovation in Plastics Sustainability joined forces with Sustainable Plastics Live/GRIPS conference to host this live conference, exhibition and showcase on the 10-11 May 2023, bringing together companies and individuals to highlight the best of the UK and select international activities which will lead to plastics being less likely to reach landfill, end up incinerated, or become fugitive in the environment.
What is involved?
The GRIPS 2023 conference showcases research and innovation from both the academic and industrial community that make polymers more sustainable. The event provided a platform to help develop the commercial success of these developments and build links within the polymer/plastics supply chain to strengthen the offer to the UK and wider international actors in application sectors such as plastic packaging/FMCG, textiles, construction; legislation; agriculture; healthcare; net zero; marine plastics; chemical recycling’ sustainable design, innovation opportunities, plastic packaging, and many more. With the forthcoming Plastics Packaging Tax, extended producer responsibility (EPR) and deposit return schemes being on the near horizon, the adoption at scale of the innovations that will have an impact in the UK and worldwide are of great importance.
The GRIPS 2023 Conference took place at the Coventry Arena on 10-11 May 2023. This event showcased research and innovation whilst bringing together the sustainable polymer community. The event focused on ‘Finding the Future of Plastics & Polymers’ with 60+ speakers, and 2 days of informative sessions driven by 140 sector experts. Whether you are an individual innovator, large corporate organisation, government department or are involved elsewhere in the plastic supply chain, this event is of interest to you.
