Meeting Net Zero with the power of place: Space & Geospatial Virtual Pavilion for COP26
Showcasing the crucial role that space data and geospatial intelligence play in helping a wide range of sectors to reach their Net Zero targets.
Geospatial intelligence is critical to solving the Climate Change challenge. To influence changes at the global level, we need to understand the impact of climate change at the local level. The availability of geospatial data at scale is unlocking new ways to provide meaningful insights into complex global climate science that can be applied to virtually any sector of the economy.

The Space & Geospatial Virtual Pavilion for COP26 aimed to showcase how the use of space data and location intelligence can help us to unlock significant opportunities for businesses and governments to work collaboratively in achieving carbon emission targets and to build solutions across sectors and societal challenges.
Pavilion Overview
Organised by Innovate UK KTN in collaboration 30+ other partners, the 11-day Virtual Pavilion explored the role of innovation, inclusive growth, and collaboration in supporting the climate emergency and meeting Net Zero targets, using the power of place.
Delegates from across all industries joined over 30 sessions with expert speakers including high profile senior figures in government, academia and industry, as well as former Vice President of the United States, Al Gore.
During the first nine days the sessions showcased use cases of space and geospatial data supporting climate action. The content was extremely varied and covered topics associated with the COP presidency programme, including the FAIR Climate Service by Open Geospatial Consortium and The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Indigenous Alliance programme.
In the last two days, KTN and its delivery partners delivered a packed agenda featuring plenaries and parallel sessions focused on transport, cities, finance, science and innovation, adaptation and nature.
