Overview

The global market for drones, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and supporting services is projected to be approximately $74 billion by 2035. In the UK alone, over 900,000 drones are expected to be flying in our skies by 2030, supporting up to 650,000 jobs and reducing carbon emissions by approximately 2.4 million tonnes – equivalent to taking 1.7 million cars off the road. These rapidly evolving new technologies and services offer exciting new business opportunities.

About the event

As part of the Future Flight Challenge, Innovate UK KTN hosted a virtual webinar to explore the challenges and opportunities of investing and scaling companies in the UK’s world-leading aviation sector. This session will help investors to navigate the future flight landscape and hear from innovative companies who have either successfully scaled their services or who are actively seeking to raise funds to grow further.

The webinar will give you the opportunity to:

  • Gather insights on the market opportunities for Future Flight in the UK, including how the market is developing alongside new policy, regulations, and use cases.
  • Hear from companies that have developed services and technologies across a range of sectors including agriculture, defence, surveying, passenger transport, and goods delivery.
  • Gain insights on routes to market and commercial success and how to navigate the evolving future flight regulatory landscape.

Who should watch?

This recording is available to anyone, but investors seeking to find out more about the business opportunities presented by advanced air mobility, drones, and electric/hybrid regional flight will benefit most. The webinar will provide insight into how these sectors – as enabling technologies and services such as artificial intelligence, communications, and infrastructure development – could benefit from the deployment of capital and how many UK companies operating in this area are already delivering successes for investors.

About the Future Flight Challenge

Future Flight will transform how we connect people, transport goods, and deliver services in a sustainable way that provides socio-economic benefits using new types of air vehicles with novel technologies. The Future Flight Challenge is helping to build the aviation ecosystem needed to accelerate the introduction of advanced air mobility (AAM), drones, and zero-emission regional aircraft in the UK.

Working with industry, academia, government and regulators, the Future Flight Challenge is a £300m, four-year programme, jointly funded by the UK Government and industry, to position the UK as a world leader in the third aviation revolution and transform how we connect people, deliver goods, and provide services. The Challenge is working towards demonstrating:

  • The safe integration and operation of drones
  • Advanced air mobility and regional aircraft
  • Advancements in electrification and autonomy
