Data Access Innovation Lab Competition Briefing
Innovate UK together with ESRC, part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £8 million to fund large collaborative projects aiming to increase Data Access in Professional and Financial services and address Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Challenges.

About the event
Individuals from UK based organisations can apply to take part in a 3-day residential Innovation Lab on behalf of their organisation. The Innovation Lab will run from 10th-12th October 2023. During the lab, the selected participants will work together to understand the issues that are preventing access to data, identify opportunities for addressing these and build consortia to develop initial proposals.

Following the Innovation Lab, the project consortia will have 8 weeks to finalise their proposals before submitting them for assessment. Only those who have attended the Innovation Lab will be eligible to lead a proposal but other partners can be brought in who have not attended.
Scope
The aim of this funding competition is to increase access to data that will help address ESG challenges across professional and financial services.
Proposals will need to address ESG and be applicable to one or more of the following sectors and sub-sectors:
- legal services
- accountancy and audit
- insurance
- open finance innovation
- payments and transactions
