Innovate UK is inviting ambitious companies to participate in one of two Global Business Innovation Programmes on Cyber security, which aim to help UK businesses to grow and scale on a global stage through building R&D and innovation collaborations and partnerships. Innovate UK is offering two Global Business Innovation Programmes on Cyber security, one focused on Singapore and the other on Australia.

This engaging programme consists of a “Get ready” preparation stage, a week-long innovation visit to Singapore or Australia (with a tailored itinerary to engage with key stakeholders and gain market insights), an “Exploit the opportunity” workshop, and support from an Innovate UK innovation and growth specialist – helping your business to identify growth opportunities and develop innovation led collaborations with partners in Singapore or Australia.

We would welcome applications involving Cyber security related technologies, hardware and/or software based, that underpin prototype developments as well as products or services in areas including:

  • IoT security
  • endpoint/mobile and network security
  • operational technology
  • threat intelligence
  • cyber risk assessment and management
  • cyber awareness/training/education

Those value propositions are expected to be addressing industrial sector applications (one or many) – such as in automotive, manufacturing, telecoms – looking to provide security and resilience against current/established approaches with associated benefits and performance improvements.

Important notice: You are only allowed to participate in one of the Cyber security GBIPs (if your application is successful), therefore, please ensure you prioritise the market that will benefit your business more.

You can apply for both of the Cyber security GBIPs, but must rank them in preference order in your application form. If you are successful in both, this will help us to identify your preferred choice of market.

  • The Global Business Innovation Programme is structured around three main stages, and each business will have a designated Innovate UK innovation and growth specialist to support them for the duration of the offering, including developing a work plan to capitalise on the opportunities identified. The three main stages of the Global Business Innovation Programme are:

    • Get ready: A two-day workshop to build knowledge and understanding of the market and potential opportunities, including how to do business, cultural aspects, how to protect your IP and training on how to improve your pitch and articulate your value proposition.
    • Visit the market: Explore the innovation opportunities first-hand through meeting with key companies and research organisations and potential collaborators and partners through pre-arranged meetings and organised matchmaking. (5 days of market related activity)
    • Exploit the opportunity: A one-day exploitation workshop and one-to-one support from a Innovate UK innovation and growth specialist to follow up and take advantage of the opportunities identified.
  • To apply for this programme you must:

    • Be a UK based innovation-led company with ambitions to grow and expand overseas
    • Be a company with fewer than 250 employees
    • Be CEO, Founder or senior decision maker and able to attend and complete all activities
  • The UK and Singapore have a strong co-innovation partnership, and an appetite to work together to address common challenges faced across the cyber security sector and evolving threat landscape. As industries and businesses in Singapore undergo rapid digital transformation, the demand for cloud-based solutions and adopting on-demand Cyber security services are increasing. Across Singapore’s Cyber security market the largest segment in terms of market share is expected to be service-based.

  • Driven by a robust economy, Australia has a strong and growing community of cyber founders with extensive go-to-market expertise. There is a deep focus from all levels of Government on ensuring Australia is a cyber secure nation. This presents a timely and valuable opportunity for companies to test their products and ideas and learn from industry experts.

  • The GBIP aims to support innovative businesses across the breadth of UK’s cyber strengths and capabilities.
