Scope information:

Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £8 million in innovation projects to enhance the manufacture of medicinal products using digitalization technology.

The aim of this competition is to enable existing manufacturing operations to improve their scope and/or efficiency and effectiveness through the application of capital improvements that are enabled by digital technology. Your proposal should show the justification for any improvements that are foreseen and the reason for selecting the specific enhancement that is planned.

This competition is for capital investment, including refurbishment and equipment. Funding cannot go towards salaries or consumables. Capital can include the cost of setting up equipment but not the costs of maintenance or staff. This competition is to be conducted in a single phase within Financial Year 2018-19. Project work must be completed by 31st March 2019.

Projects may be led by an SME or by a larger company. Bids by a single company or by more than one company acting in collaboration will be accepted. The maximum funding for eligible project costs is up to 50% for businesses of any size.
