We believe that the winning businesses of tomorrow will be those which anticipate and respond to the huge changes shaping people’s lives across the world, therefore in 2020 we launched the Unilever Climate a Nature Fund: a commitment to invest 1 billion euros by 2030 in meaningful climate, nature, and resource efficiency projects, to transform the way our products are made and reach end of life. It is an initiative powered by Unilever’s well-known brands, such as Knorr, Dove, and Dirt is Good, to drive value creation while having a positive impact on the planet. The Fund has 7 investment platforms: sustainable and natural feedstock alternatives, carbon capture and utilisation, biotechnology for sustainable ingredients, plastic alternatives and transformation, non-animal-derived alternatives, regenerative agriculture and positive action on nature, and renewable energy transition.
The projects supported by the fund aim to help Unilever progress towards its goal, through innovation, to improve the health of the planet, including reaching net zero by 2039, while also driving growth and increasing resilience.
The Fund leverages Unilever’s broad expertise in Research and Development, Open Innovation, Supply Chain Sustainability, Procurement and Finance to identify and scale innovation to transform our value chains; including the expertise of The Unilever Foundry: which bridges the gap between Unilever’s global presence and the cutting-edge approaches of start-ups and innovative organisations.
