Empirical Ventures invests up to £350k tickets in pre-seed and seed rounds in sectors that are solving problems in the following sectors: Life Sciences, Advanced Materials, TechBio, Photonics and Quantum Hardware, Robotics and Automation, AgChem/Tech and DeepTech. We are looking to support startups developing entirely new technologies developed from fundamental research, creating IP-rich innovations with competitive defensibility.

At Empirical Ventures our investment criteria include: One or more scientific disciplines are fundamental to the technology you are developing. inherent novelty to your approach – your USP builds on new advances in our scientific understanding, and S/EIS eligibility.

Empirical Ventures has been building a reputation around our domain expertise and due diligence and in-turn we have developed a track record of value-add both pre- and post-investment. At Empirical Ventures we aim to address the lack of lead science investors. We are specifically trying to help founders who are looking to build syndicates for completing their investment rounds. By sharing our due diligence with the founders we can act as a lead science investor, even if we are not necessarily leading the round from a financial perspective.
