Gerry Black
Knowledge Transfer Adviser
I joined Innovate UK KTN in 2017 as the Knowledge Transfer Adviser for West Scotland, bringing many years of experience as a Senior KTP Adviser.
The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) support businesses to engage with expert academic teams on a project-based collaboration delivering sustainable innovation with positive economic impact and additional societal or environmental benefits. I look after businesses supporting their projects with knowledge bases in many parts of the country, and also maintain relationships with a number of designated universities in relation to their participation in the programme.
I have a BSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Organic Chemistry. My early career was in the Civil Service, and in Management and Tax Consultancy followed by a move to live in Scotland where I have founded and grown businesses. I was appointed as a KTP Adviser in 2002 and have helped over 300 companies tackle strategic and innovative projects. In 2006 I became a Senior KTP Adviser bringing real enthusiasm for Open Innovation projects in collaboration with the Knowledge Base.
