About the event

We would like to invite you to attend this dedicated briefing webinar for the Resource efficiency for materials and manufacturing (REforMM) CR&D competition to give you the opportunity to ask any questions directly to expert innovation leads at Innovate UK. This session is intended to address general questions around the competition scope and individual project queries will not be covered. If you do have specific project queries, contact details will be shared.

There will also be the opportunity to network to find partners for your project. A dedicated Meeting Mojo platform will be set up for you to book one to one meetings with fellow delegates. Please make sure you make most of this opportunity and provide the necessary details by uploading your profile.

This competition is open to academics, SMEs, RTOs and businesses and are all encouraged to attend.

Background

UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £12 million for projects under the REforMM programme. This funding is from Innovate UK. The competition is expected to be launched on 31 March 2023 (subject to date change).

The aim of this competition is to fund ambitious and collaborative research & development projects to support UK materials and manufacturing organisations to become significantly more resource efficient. Simultaneous demonstrations of how UK materials and manufacturing will become more resilient or technologically advanced are encouraged.

Scope (subject to change), eligibility and details of the CR&D funding call will be outlined in the webinar.

In scope:

Your proposal must significantly improve resource efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, as well as focus on two or more of these five core areas:

  • Materials for the future economy
  • Smart design
  • Resilient supply chains
  • World-class production
  • Longer in use and reuse

Out of scope:

  • An incremental improvement in resource efficiency
  • A biomanufacture or biotechnology process
  • Circularity of rare earth elements
  • A carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology
  • Technologies to directly reduce industrial energy consumption
